Women's dress rules

Dresses and skirts must fall just above the knee or longer and jumpsuits must be below the knee. Shoulder straps need to be at least an inch wide — spaghetti straps, halters and one-shoulder styles are not allowed. Sheer fabrics, midriff-baring and cutout pieces are prohibited. The Princess of Wales wore a bright yellow Roksanda Brigitte dress and a Jane Taylor hat, marking her first Ascot in three years.

Men's attire and other bans

Gentlemen should wear morning dress — a long tailcoat, waistcoat and necktie — in black, grey or navy with black shoes and socks covering the ankle. Cravats, bow ties, costumes and branded or promotional clothing are not permitted, keeping the event focused on traditional summer occasionwear.
