The Royal Enclosure is Ascot’s most exclusive area and requires name badges that must be worn only by the named individual. On June 17 the Royal Box hosted King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Princess of Wales and Prince William while guests followed a precise dress code.
Hats are mandatory in the Royal Enclosure. Women may wear hats, headpieces or a hatinator with a base at least four inches wide; PEOPLE’s Kirsty Hatcher measured her cream hatinator at 12 inches. Men must wear black or grey top hats only; customized designs aren’t permitted. Headgear can be removed inside restaurants, private boxes or enclosed external seating areas.
